Farm To Paw -        The Story

Barb Spears, the owner and founder of Farm To Paw Boutique & Market, has always had a deep passion for animals. Whether it's horses, dogs, cats (despite her allergies), or, of course, goats, Barb’s love for animals has been a driving force in her life. This love led her to ask herself an important question: How can I help my animals live their longest, healthiest lives?

It soon occurred to Barb that, just as we humans fuel our bodies with the best nutrition, our pets deserve the same level of care. This inspired her to ask: Am I feeding my pets the best food to optimize their health?

Driven by curiosity, Barb dove deep into animal nutrition. As she learned more, she began making thoughtful changes to her dogs' diets, and that sparked an even bigger question: How can I share this knowledge with my friends and the local pet community? The answer became clear—open a retail space offering premium foods that support optimal pet health. And so, Farm To Paw in Acton was born.

The flagship store had a true boutique feel, with 12 freezer doors—once considered huge—dedicated to raw and frozen options. It stocked high-quality kibbles, along with air-dried, freeze-dried, and dehydrated raw foods. We also offered canned foods that were hard to find in big-box stores, along with irresistible treats and chews that would have your pet begging for more.

At Farm To Paw, we’ve always remained committed to our core value: everything we offer is carefully selected to optimize your pet's health and ensure they lead long, happy, and vibrant lives.

As Farm To Paw grew, we expanded to Guelph, where 12 freezer doors no longer seemed enough—so we added 20. Our expanded space allowed us to carry an even broader selection of kibbles, dehydrated foods, canned options, and more. The growth didn’t stop there; we opened a third location in Erin and began expanding our online business. As we continued to grow, we realized that our Acton location wasn’t flourishing as we’d hoped and could be better served by our Erin location and online store. After careful consideration, we made the difficult decision to close the Acton location to focus on growing our Guelph, Erin, and online operations.

So, what does the future hold for Farm To Paw? The answer is simple: we will continue providing you, the pet parent, with the best products to help your fur-babies not just survive—but thrive. We will keep researching and curating the finest selection of products to ensure your pets get the care they deserve.
